The scarf is very soft. In the pic it looked to me like more of a blue color. I would have given a 5 rating but the color is not as shown, but is VERY dark, and looks very close to black. So my rating went down to a 4 instead. The hat seems well mad and is not super stretchy. Could be used for a male or female.
