Great book
You want my honest opinion? Coraline is a book that will stick with you. It's not just a children's story; it's a genuine piece of horror literature that masterfully preys on our deepest childhood fears. This book isn't about jump scares; it's about a creeping, psychological horror that builds and builds. You feel Coraline's isolation and her terror, and you'll find yourself holding your breath as she navigates this sinister mirror world. But what makes it truly brilliant is that beneath the surface-level scares, it's a story about a little girl finding her bravery and learning to appreciate the imperfect, real world she's always taken for granted. If you're looking for a book that will give you chills, a story that is as clever as it is creepy, and a heroine you can't help but admire, then you need to buy Coraline. It's a quick read, but its impact will last a lifetime. Trust me on this one you won't regret it.

Movie was better
I sadly have to admit that the movie was better than the book this time around. Mostly because the pacing felt way too fast, while at the same time dragging on and on during what felt like boring and unnecessary scenes. I also wish that they would have dove deeper into who or what exactly the beldam was. Overall, I would recommend reading it. But I myself will stick to the movie.

Kreepy Kids Klassic
It’s Neil Gaiman. ‘Nuff said. Nevertheless, I’ll say a little more. Coraline is a spooky modern fairy tale that addresses “benign” parental neglect, the allure—as well as the horror—of imagination, self-reliance, ingenuity, and bravery. I also wonder whether the story is implying something about being an only child—I still haven’t figured out the significance of the three children Coraline encounters in her adventures. Perhaps if she’d had siblings to engage and entertain her, she wouldn’t have wandered into the Other world? I might need to reread this!

Darkly Adored
Yeah. There's a reason this one's a classic. I first read it as an adult and was immediately drawn back into my youth and the wild imaginings that ensues.

A Children's Classic
I'm glad I watched the movie first so I could have a better visual of everything. It definitely is a spooky but interesting story. I don't know how I would have reacted if I had actually read it as a kid because I don't like stuff like fairy realms (like Spirited Away), but then again, I did like A Series Of Unfortunate Events and Tim Burton.

Fun yet suspenseful
This book really expands the imagination of what is happening in the book from the little illustrations that represents the chapter as you turn the page. I really recommend this book for kids in a lower grade from 5th through middle school to read during spooky season. And if you were wondering there is a movie that goes to the book. Lastly this book gives the message that parents should never take their children for granted and children should never take the life they were given for granted. - happy reading :)
