Good product but strange encounter with cashier

The sewing is good and the material is Comfortable on the body; not too heavy and not too thin. Had a strange encounter with the cashier. I gave my cottonOn card to the cashier and left the store without retrieving my card. I went back to the store about 20 minutes later to retrieve my card and the cashier told me she had thrown away my card. She instructed her colleague to issue a new card for me and She left as she was going off duty. I requested her colleague to look for my card in the trash bin but she was not able to find my card inside the trash bin. That's very strange as the trash bin had not been emptied since I left the store. Anyway a new card was issued to me. Would like to know What's the SOP for cards left behind by customers?
