Couldn't put it down

Having already read The Covenant of Water and totally enjoying it, I knew I had to read Cutting for Stone just to see if it was as good. This book did not disappoint! The characters, the history, emotions, love of family, I loved all of it. Being in the medical field myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed medical and surgical parts of the book. This is one book I'll definitely read again.

Worth it!

I put off reading this book for months, assuming it would be some sort of cross-cultural circle-of-life experience. Well, how wonderfully so, but that's exactly what it turned out to be. The story, which takes place in Ethiopia and centers on twins adopted by a nun, follows them from infancy to adulthood. It has a complex plot that includes the father's abandonment of the children, the mother's death, the foster parents' love, Ethiopia's history, and the twins' own adult decisions and career choices. The characters have vivid descriptions and are well developed. It's interesting to learn about and observe how their home and nation's cultures influence their development. The storyline never falters—ever. I had also reviewed this book on shabd.in and kindle too.

Wow

Not gonna lie-this is LONG-and there were times that I was confused and lost what I was actually reading. But after the first 100+ pages, it really picked up and went full steam ahead. I loved it. The characters were so well developed and I am actually going to miss them.
