Couldn’t get them to lay flat

I was excited to try these but I couldn’t get them to work on my nails. The edges popped up even when I tried to top them with a clear coat. Maybe it was my gel base polish? I also found the little tool was either too sticky and I couldn’t get them off or it wouldn’t pick them up at all. Again, could be my fault but it was a struggle and I ended up wasting them and taking them all off in the end.
