First, make sure you read the dimensions--these are little serving dishes, not big salad bowls. The largest one is similar in diameter to a small to medium plate, and they are not tall--think a really deep coupe plate, rather than a steep-sided bowl. We use them for serving a few little appetizers or desserts, fruit, veggie sticks, and other snacks, or putting out a few slices of bread or rolls--they are perfect for when you have a small group at a smaller table. They stack very nicely and are easy to store on top of a stack of plates if space is limited. The glazes are really nice, and each one is a little different. I love this about the Halo pattern in general--some are more black, some are more blue, some are more striped, and some are more speckled, and there is a bit of depth to the glaze. They mix well with other patterned or solid dishes and glassware as a result. Like other Denby dishes, you can put them in the dishwasher or use them in the microwave and they will not get burning hot to the touch before your food is hot.
