sturdy towel but not absorbent enough

This is an attractive towel of thick woven cotton, and it's fine for drying your hands, but the textured surface does not hold moisture, so it's not useful for tasks like drying a wineglass you washed by hand. It smears the water around instead of absorbing the water.
