This will challenge your thinking

I bought a book a couple months ago; I was intrigued by the title because I was intrigued by the title and already knew about the author. My original intent was to have this book as my summer study. I mean seriously ten chapters – 194 pages, just the right size for a summer study. Oh my… was I wrong. This book has taken me through the summer and just into the fall to get through it all. It is so jam-packed with simple, yet such profound wisdom… so much needed in my life that I found myself reading and rereading the same pages… and some paragraphs. I found my thinking in these pages. I highly recommend this book, but not as a cursory read. Take your time and study it for yourself.

An awesome resource for all

Speaks to the the heart as well as the mind, the overall perspective is a beautiful reminder of the free will God gave us all, but brings our purpose full circle in how He loves us unconditionally, even when we allow the enemy a seat at our table.

Good Reading

My friend suggested I join her bible study group that was starting a new book called, Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table by Louie Giglio. She knew I was struggling with a few incorrect attitudes. Also referred to as “The battle of the mind”. I said, why not? It’d be fun to zoom once a week and discuss the book. Let me just tell you that I need to read this book at least five more times. It’s a life changer. I have most of the book highlighted. It’s very easy to have the knowledge on how to live a life pleasing to God but it’s another thing to apply it in daily life. I’m just going to quote the book because I can’t say it any better. “You don’t have to let negative thoughts control your life. You don’t have to allow the Enemy to influence your thinking. You have the power through Jesus Christ to take control of your thoughts and emotions. Jesus invites you to a table that he has prepared for your—a table where the Enemy is not invited.” If you are quick to anger and slow to forgiving like me, then this book is a prescription for healing and peace in your mind and heart. The most prominent message I got this time reading this book was “even though…I will”. I’m trying to consciously choose to linger in the presence of God and this book easily aides in that endeavor. It’s actually an entertaining read with a few relatable stories. It’s not a dry, biblical quoting or preachy style book. I enjoyed reading a chapter a week and discussing what we read with other friends trying to live a Godly life. originally posted at long and short reviews

Must read!

If you're like pretty much every other human on the planet, you struggle with your thoughts, assumptions, perceptions, etc. taking you to unhealthy and unproductive places. Might be a serious life storm, or a tough day at work or some tension in your marriage or even the guy who cut you off in traffic. It's in those moments we make a choice about who/what we allow to inform our thinking... God and his truth, or the Enemy and his lies. And that's what this book is about... learning how to cut off the lies and attacks of the Enemy, and remain completely tuned in to Jesus so we can live in freedom and victory. Read this book!
