360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum

I owned a Rumba robot vacuum, which lasted a number of years. I would describe it as effective, but But it did not replace an upright vacuum in terms of depth and quality. Now, as I started shopping for a new one I was skeptical about brands like Dyson that are not known for a robotic vacuum. Just the same consumer magazines gave the Dyson robot a good rating, and I decided as I am pleased with my upright Dyson to give their robot a chance. What a pleasant surprise! It does an excellent job and I would even describe it as a deep cleaning. No I don’t have to use my upright after to get the spots that I missed with the grounded dirt. I can’t recommend this enough for those of you who might be shopping for a freestanding automatic robotic vacuum.

Powerful cleaning and excellent filtration.
I bought the Dyson 360 Vis Nav at a deep Black Friday / Cyber Monday discount. I like its suction and Dyson’s filtration system, which is far superior to my older Roomba. However, the navigation and mapping still feel immature, and the robot can become confused depending on lighting, furniture, and floor layout. What works well The cleaning performance on hardwood floors is very good, and dust control is excellent. The Dyson filtration system is a major plus, especially compared to older Roomba models where dust, debris, and hair contaminate the bin and filters. So far, hair has not wrapped around the brush the way it did on my Roomba. When it works properly, it does keep the floors consistently clean. Navigation and mapping issues The robot sometimes appears to lose track of where it is, especially at the end of a cleaning cycle. It can struggle to find the charging station and seems to rely heavily on good lighting. I’ve found that all lights need to be on for it to behave reliably. Even then, it occasionally cleans zones I did not select, suggesting it becomes disoriented. Mapping is sensitive to furniture. I initially mapped the floor with most furniture removed, but once furniture was put back, navigation became worse. Remapping with furniture in place improved things, but it still misses spots and occasionally behaves unpredictably. Docking and multi-floor limitations The robot must start from its dock to clean properly. This makes multi-floor use inconvenient unless you move the dock or buy multiple docks. That is a significant limitation compared to some other robots. Rugs, mats, and clearance It has mixed success with small mats and rugs. Sometimes it climbs them, sometimes it doesn’t. The robot is also a bit tall, and it can get stuck under kitchen counters or when trying to climb mats. It has also attempted to climb the round base under my Norwegian chairs, which prompted another remap with furniture in place. Bottom line I’m keeping it for now because the suction and filtration are excellent, and it does keep my hardwood floors clean. However, the navigation, docking reliability, lighting dependence, and multi-floor limitations are real drawbacks. If it continues to feel more aggravating than helpful over the next week or two, I will likely return it. Best value if purchased at a deep discount and used mainly on one well-lit floor with hardwood and minimal.

Poor software engineering
I bought Dyson 360 Vis Nav per reputation of other Dyson products, which I really like. This one is a major disappointment. First, one can’t just push a button to start cleaning: it had to map the rooms first, which took 6 hours for a 2000 square feet house. One then has to “define” zones before one can start using it, and the process is so poorly designed I did not even know how I made thru. It then spends most of its time “locating zones” instead of cleaning, so it would take 5+ hours, 2 charges to clean the rooms. It does a good job cleaning, and dumping debris is really easy.

Regrettable purchase. Unfortunately.
I bought this just a couple weeks ago and it is not consistent at all. It took 5 attempts to finally map the area, which my previous vacuum had done in one attempt. So far it has only cleaned the whole area ONE time. The whole area being an entry, living room, dining room, kitchen and mud room. All the same hardwood flooring with a couple low profile rugs. We literally prep to vacuum every night so the floors are all picked up. When it does work it works well, but it has gotten hung up almost every night. On a rug (blows my mind), on a floor register, on a door stop (seriously how), and on and on. My previous vacuum, which thankfully I haven't gotten rid of, has never gotten stuck. We have Dyson throughout our home and was really looking forward to this. The app is cool, just wish the vacuum worked.

Suction is truly awesome, but it clogs itself easily and needs attention too often. Self-emptying bin would be a big improvement. Navigation is good, but not great. It bumps into a lot of things.

I started using the robot not that long ago. It stops in the middle of cleaning. Has to be restarted multiple times to get a small area done. I may as well clean the area by hand. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Great features and easy cleanup!
I purchased the Dyson robot vacuum about one month ago. It took a few times for the Dyson vacuum to become familiar with the house. It has powerful suction and works well cleaning in between floor boards. The video that shows how to take care of the vacuum was very helpful. Cleaning is easy too. It doesn’t have any vacuum bag; just the snap out container that empties in the trash can. So far, it has been so helpful for me as I am not young anymore and lack the energy to clean three floors.

Doesn’t clean very well
I really wanted to love this robot vacuum. But I find that overall I’ve been better off vacuuming manually than leaving it up to the robot. The mapping function is really off, I tried mapping a couple times and it turned out the same and you can’t edit it yourself on the app. The robot just randomly goes places to clean, not in a uniform motion, so a lot of areas are missed. It has gotten stuck many times for no reason and doesn’t vacuum door mats or little mats at all. Anything above “auto” literally takes hours to clean my 800 sq ft space if it doesn’t get stuck from nothing. So unfortunately, wouldn’t recommend this Dyson product though I do love everything else I have from them.
