Boots run small/narrow

These shoes run small compared to other ECCO styles that I own; they are narrow and squeeze my feet so I returned them. The leather is also very rigid and not soft.

ecco boots

I bought the boots on line, they didn't have the USA size number, so I chose size 39, when I got them, they didn't fit me, (small). I returned them and bought them again, but this time size 40, and now they are too big! I really liked the quality but I am so sad because the sizes are weird.
