I can summarize the entire book in a single quote from it: "Arrogance and self-absorption inhibit growth." After reading the 9 page introduction, I could immediately tell what the rest of the book would say, and that the definition of 'ego' used would be very shallow. He would give an example of a historical event or figure and then gloss over other points that could be made or reasons for their successful/failure, and end by saying 'See? Ego is bad. Always be humble.' I even felt myself rolling my eyes multiple times - like when you listen to someone who's trying to be deep and philosophical, but doesnt really have much to add. If you want philosophical insight, read from people like Marcus Aurelius, Epicurus, Lao Tzu, etc. Not the people that quote them and fluff a whole book off a simple idea.
