What happened to the so called "brush"

Grand Entrance fails the opening act. There is a wand but no brush. Eyelashes have to be separated on your own with a different eye tool. I don't get it. In all the years I have used mascaras I have never found even an inexpensive drug store brand that has a wand with no bristles....reminds me of playing in tar with a stick
