Petite sizing seems off to me

Nice slacks and good quality. Interesting sheen to them - almost a satiny finish. Purchased a petite size and either petites are getting taller or I'm getting shorter because they were far too long even with heels. Considered keeping them and having them altered/hemmed but decided against it. Was hoping at this price point there wouldn't be a need to do that. Unfortunately, I'm returning them.
