A romantic read...

When two people from different worlds collide it's like fireworks. True Walls has received a letter from his real father who True hopes to find out more about his mother. True's family is a mystery to him but by going to North Carolina, he hopes to find more about his family. Hope Anderson is originally from the states who is staying at her parents cottage in Sunset Beach which is located in North Carolina. Her father who has been diagnosed with an illness, Hope stays at their cottages deciding on what the next steps are in taking care of her ailing father. But everything changes for the better it seems, when Hope and True have a sudden encounter. Nicholas Sparks has written another emotionally charged love story about two destined lovers. He tears at the heart strings with each turn of the page making the reader wonder if there is a happy ending for Hope and True. Even though the two first meet and don't know anything about each other, Mr. Sparks draws the readers in by showing his readers the emotion and passion these two strangers hold for each other through his descriptive writing. The story is captivating and one that will leave readers interested in reading more romance from this author. This is a must read for the romantic at heart!

Unrelatable Characters

This was the 1st Nicholas Sparks book I've ever read. I struggled to relate to the characters. Hope claims to not be rich, yet her family owns two houses, one on the beach. All she wants is to be a mother, and even says adoption won't do. Then, when she is dying, she's sad about not being a grandmother. I felt sad she did not have any other hopes or dreams for herself.

overview of the book and some spoilers

“The destiny that matters in anyone’s life is the one concerning love…” “What does one say to a former lover after twenty years?” Love doesn’t always have the best timing. This predicament is fitting for the love story of Tru Walls and Hope Anderson. Hope met Tru in September 1990. When Tru a Safari game driver; had come all the way from Zimbabwe to Sunset Beach North Carolina to meet his biological father. Hope had visited sunset beach for her friend’s wedding and the two fell in love instantly. With having only spent a weekend together and a love that was undeniably strong. Will Tru and Hope be together forever or will their different lives be an obstacle? There is nothing I can say to fault this novel. It is a true perception that true love doesn’t fade. What the novel taught me is that love doesn’t always have the best timing. And that played as an obstacle in their love story. It left me feeling very optimistic and hopeful that soul mates truly exist. However it also made me realize that love isn’t always enough for a relationship to work. I see this when Tru loves Hope dearly but knows that he cannot give her children. That makes their love not enough for their relationship, if it was then Hope and Tru would have stayed together. Another thing I loved about the novel is how timeless it made love seem. It only took Tru and Hope a weekend to realize that they were destined to be together…. And even after spending 24 years apart the feelings didn’t change. The novel also taught me about Kindred Spirit, a place I hope to visit one day. It emphasized the beauty of writing letters and what it can do to people in love. This truly is a great love story. On that will stay with me forever. Nicholas Sparks’ style also made it more relatable to the characters. He made me feel like I was the one making the decisions and authors seldom achieve that feeling in their reader. I would have preferred it if Tru and Hope had reunited earlier, but overall the ending was truly worth it. I would have preferred it if Hope hadn’t chosen to marry a man she knew she didn’t love just so she could have children. It would have been better if hope had stayed with Tru. The fact that he made it sound like a true story made it more believable and real. Although it wasn’t a true story, it still felt real.
