5720 Potting Soil, 20-Pound

Web ID: 15295862It’s dirt!
A bag of dirt is a bag of dirt! I think the packaging could be better. If it had a ziplock for an opening it would easier to manage and close up when needed.

great for beginners!
i’ve always had a hard time growing veggies at home and this soil is great for starting a garden! it’s not too dense but not too airy either it’s just the right combination of both! i imagine it would be hard to kill a plant using this soil.

Dense Potting Soil Is Too Heavy
I received the Michigan Peat potting soil mix to review and I was very hopeful it would be a great addition to my busy yard. Initially I was surprised that the bag was so heavy. It felt like a 40 pound bag even though it was just 20. The soil was very dense, more like compost than traditional potting soil, but without the organic benefits. I planted this geranium in the soil six weeks ago and it looks good but it has not really grown either. Overall I am not sure that I would recommend this soil. I have some large flower beds with lots of plants and many potted plants. I don't have a place that I would use this.

Great soil!
Great soil! My plants are thriving and better than ever. I re potted 3 of my vine plants and one tomato plant and they are doing better already. Big bag so you can get a bang for your buck!

Holds lots of moisture
This is very dark, moist soil. I watered my plants after repotting and the soil has still held onto most of the moisture a few days later. Packaging was sturdy but lacking a zip closure.

Clean and filling, stays moist but drains well.
This soil was fresh and uncontaminated with any bugs. I have used it only for indoor plants and has worked well at keeping my plants from getting water logged. The packaging could be better/more robust for the larger, heavier sized bags.

Magic!
This soil is literally garden magic! I could tell right away that this soil is super rich and fertile. I used it to fill a hole my dogs dug in the yard and the grass grew back beautifully!

Maximizing Plant Health
So far I am quite impressed with the performance of Garden Magic General Purpose Potting Soil Mix. As an avid gardener, I'm always on the lookout for high-quality potting soil that can nourish my plants effectively. This product did not disappoint. First and foremost, I used this potting soil mix to plant a lettuce seed mix. Pleasantly, the seeds germinated within just three days, which is faster than I expected. The soil provided the perfect environment for the seeds to sprout and develop into healthy seedlings. The seedlings are now progressing well, showing robust growth and vibrant green leaves, indicating that they are receiving the nutrients they need. Additionally, I repotted a fern using this mix, which contains red sedge peat, sand, and perlite among other ingredients. The fern, which was struggling in its previous potting soil, has shown significant improvement since being repotted. The leaves are greener, and there is new growth emerging, suggesting that the plant is happier and healthier in its new environment. One thing I appreciate about this potting soil mix is its texture and composition. It has a light and airy texture, allowing for good drainage while retaining enough moisture for the plants. Although the perlite does look like styrofoam that may be found in other potting soils, perlite can help to improve drainage and aeration. Moreover, the convenience of the 20 lbs bag size was perfect for my gardening needs and took care of several potting projects. The only downside is that the bag is not resealable, and if any unused portion is not used quickly it can easily spill.
