Fans of Girl, Interrupted, Thirteen Reasons Why, and All the Bright Places will love this New York Times bestseller. "A haunting, beautiful, and necessary book that will stay with you long after you've read the last page. Nicola Yoon, 1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything and The Sun Is Also a Star Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she's learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge. A deeply moving portrait of a girl in a world that owes her nothing, and has taken so much, and the journey she undergoes to put herself back together. Kathleen Glasgow's debut is heartbreakingly real and unflinchingly honest. It's a story you won't be able to look away from.

It was alright!

3 ⭐️ Charlotte was a smart girl, and although she did bad things at first, all she deserved was a bright and successful future. She did a good job choosing a healthy path for herself, leaving behind everything that could negatively affect her. A little bit overrated, but the ending was worth it.

Important look at mental health

The struggle Charlie goes through is well thought out, accurate, and raw. There’s a focus here on being honest, doing the work, and getting help. This lesson is a bit buried under other things, but it is there if you look for it. The chapters are short, written in the style of a journal. It works for this story. It helps you feel closer to the main character and relate well to her struggle. Ultimately, this is a story about mental health and teenagers written by someone who writes both very, very well. Often, there are cliches and inaccuracies with these topics, this is not one of those cases. If you’re looking for a raw and real story about mental health that pulls no punches, this is that story. It’s difficult to read but packed with relatable content that will help you understand someone with these struggles. It illustrates the importance of getting help and doing the work. For that, it’s important.

Watch your trigger warnings...

An emotional read that will tear at your heart strings. "A Girl in Pieces" is a book that shows readers what happens when a child might not be loved properly and have good, kind, and loving parents to look after her. Charlotte Davis is a young girl who thinks nothing is going right for her. Everything around Charlotte seems to be bad for her and tends to lead her down a darkened and lonely path. Will Charlotte's life ever turn out the way she wanted it to? This is a must read for adults readers a like. Or anyone who feels lost and looking to be found.

8th grader opinion.

This is the book that made me fall in love with Kathleen Glasgow's books. this book is very triggering for some more than others as it does have many sensitive topics so if you are easily triggered please look up the trigger warnings before reading. This book is one of my all time favorites as I would reread this again and again and have the same reaction everytime, it's definitely one of those books that are very hard to put down just as hard as it is to read do to the situations that happen to the main character, charlie.
