An incredible and fast-paced sequel!

An incredible sequel to the Red Rising space opera! Golden Son picks up not long after Red Rising, and it is lightning pace from page 1 to the end. Darrow's secrets and imposed distance from his friends come back to haunt him this time around, and as some of his friendships decline, he begins his multi-book journey of discovering that he is stronger in friendship than he is alone. His star both brightens and dims, and as he prepares to lead the first Iron Rain in decades, the future of the Rising is in question. As can be expected, things do not go to plan, and this book ends on one of the wildest cliffhangers I've ever read. Golden Son does not at all feel like a second or middle book - it stands in its own right, scales the story further, and amplifies the foundation set in book 1.

One of my favorite series ever

The first 3 books of this series were incredible. I took me a little to get into the last 3 books of the series but they didn't disappoint. Still one of my favorite series I've ever read. Between audible and the paper copy, I couldn't stop reading/listening till it was finished.

A strong sequel!

Book one took Darrow out of the mines toiled by Reds and into Society as a Gold, but here in book two he is struggling to succeed and facing difficult choices at every turn. Wishing not for more violence but the rebirth of a fairer life for all people, Darrow is alone in a growing storm. New alliances, clever schemes, and intense battles kept me turning these these pages. I love Darrow. On every single page I’m rooting for him. Even when he makes mistakes, at his core he cares about the consequences of his actions and values all human life. Even when pushed and manipulated to do terrible things, I still love him and grieve with him and want to join his revolution. And I’m so glad we got my favorite characters from book one in this story. Sevro and the howlers are crazy and fantastic. Or fantastically crazy? Either way I adore them. Book mail will soon bring me Morning Star and I can’t wait to see how this trilogy ends. (And yes, I know there are more books after the original trilogy that I’m sure I’ll read too because this world is incredible.)

Perfect

I am so glad I stumbled into this series. You just can't put it down. As you read the pages a movie plays in your head. You can see the characters, feel them, and become attached.
