Waist is very small

I really liked the length of these shorts and the style. They have the tiniest waist I have ever seen on shorts. I usually buy a 30 or 8 and they fit fine there was at least and inch shortage on the waist on the size 31. The denim was different too, not in a good way. Not that stretchy but not pure cotton either. All in all, a bad buy.
