Dissatisfied! Rooted fruit

I bought this small basket as one of a several small birthday presents for my husband, having tasted pears and apples from Harry&David thought it was a great present but to his surprise the pears arrived rotten and he was not able to try them. The apples, cheeses, fancy peach juice, etc were delicious as usual. I’m not sure what happened but I’m disappointed and will avoid purchasing fruit baskets in the future.
