If you love Alice in Wonderland...
If you love Alice in Wonderland, this is the book for you. There are so many details that are from the original book, or cartoon if you never read them, that made the world building more exciting. I enjoyed the twist that Marissa Meyer's created for the Red Queen's "origin story." A sweet romance that was a breath of fresh air from my usual dark romance. Again, if you enjoy Alice in Wonderland, I recommend it!

Not Worth It
I was constantly bored throughout reading it, the plot is sorta basic, and it overall just didn’t capture my imagination. When I first bought it I was excited thinking that it would be a fun romantic mystery, but I was let down. Plus (*sort of spoiler alert*) the ending sucked.

SO GOOD
Y’all. Oh my gosh. This one has been sitting on my tbr for soooooo long but I finally got around to it and I BINGED. Miss Marissa Meyer has done it again. From the start I was sucked into the world of Wonderland and taken back to my childhood. I absolutely loved the way that there were so many aspects and characters from the original Alice in Wonderland but also that the world was expanded upon and made unique. The characters were so interesting and I really loved Catherine and the relationship between her and Jest. It made me so anxious while reading because obviously Cath becomes the villainous Queen of Hearts so I knew the story was not going to end well, but that made it to where I just couldn’t put it down. Overall I really liked this book and haven’t gotten this into one in a while. It will definitely change the way that I view Alice in Wonderland in the future, seeing the world and the characters in a new, almost tragic light. Rating: 5/5⭐️

The feelings are mixed
Okay, I have completely mixed feelings about this book. At first I thought it was cute, although I thought it unnecessary to have three whole pages just about lemon tarts, but I started to get annoyed. The man character, Cath, really gets in my nerves. She’s so stuck up and helpless it’s exhausting. Slight spoiler, when the Jabberwock comes to the theatre and jest is fighting it, he tells her to run and she immediately slips, breaking her ankle. Then she acts like it’s the biggest pain in the world while Jest is over here fighting for his life. Then she magically pulls the vorpal sword out of his hat and literally all she does is stab up and holds the sword. The Jabberwock flees and, get this, she collapses. Like she actually did something when literally all she did was stand up for 15 seconds and holds a sword. Then everyone acts like she’s such a hero, including Jest. And it continues to drone on and on about the pain in her ankle. Like what the frick? Anyways that’s not even a quarter of it. She constantly gets on my nerves and she’s so rude to the hatter when he helps her. And she’s one of those characters who just lets people, like her parents, talk over her and doesn’t speak up for herself and it just got on my nerves so much. She makes everything about herself and constantly complains. Other than that the story was alright, it was interesting enough to keep me reading but it was definitely reused. The ending was way too rushed but it was still alright. So definitely not my favorite but it’s enough for three stars.
