Holes by Louis Sachar Book Review

Being a child in school, I have always been seeking adventure, suspense, and mystery which is often hard to find in novels. The astonishing adventure fiction as well as mystery novel, Holes by Louis Sachar, fits any kid's attention span. Even children who do not find joy in reading, find this novel very fascinating. This book is full of suspense, action all around, and especially relatable struggles. It all begins with an average boy, Stanley Yelnats. Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of sneakers from a famous basketball player named Clyde Livingston. He was then given the option to either be sent to jail or a camp. Stanley chose the camp without hesitation, imagining a fun experience as he had never been to camp before. Camp Green Lake turned out to not be the exciting place Stanley mind pictured. This was a camp where each kid sent there had to build a big hole each day before doing anything else despite the burning sun, rain, or any other weather obstacles. Along Stanley’s stay, he met many friends, went through many adventures, and even did things that would be considered unbelievable in stories, but you will have to read to find out. At the end of the day, this isn't just a book; it’s a lesson. This novel can show readers life outside their homes, exposing children to emotions they have only seen in movies. If I had to choose one book to read for the rest of my life, it would be Holes by Louis Sachar. No matter how many times it is read, the suspense, thrill, and enjoyment it can give a reader never leaves.

Very enjoyable book would recommend

Holes is a mystery fiction book by Louis Sachar and was very interesting and fun to read. I’m not a fan of reading, however Holes was easy to read and understand. Unlike many books, Holes is unique and doesn’t jump all over the place with flashbacks, and characters who randomly get introduced throughout the book. It shows a point of view as if you're a part of the book. The author did a good job of describing Camp Green Lake. I was able to visualize what it was like to be there which made it more enjoyable to read. Holes is a book about troubled kids who got sent to a camp to hopefully better their lives through discipline. The discipline was digging holes on extremely hot days for long periods of time. However, why did the Warden change her whole personality when someone dug something up? What could be on a dried up lake that would completely change someone’s personality completely? It was Stanley who came across something which explains why these kids are digging these holes. Maybe this book isn’t just about discipline! I’m going to talk about some of the characters I enjoyed who played a big role in Holes, one of which is Stanley. Stanley is the main character who had to face a decision of either going to juvie or going to Camp Green Lake, a disciplinary camp. The reason why Stanley had to make this decision was funny because of what I found out later in the book. Zero was another character who was interesting. He wouldn’t speak, smile or have any facial expressions at all. However he started to trust another character called Caveman because he would help Zero on reading, writing and the alphabet. However this decision ended up badly for Caveman, as we find out later in the book. This book was something I enjoyed and even though it is fiction it felt very real to me. I recommend Holes to anyone. I think you will definitely enjoy it. The reason why I think you will enjoy this is because the book does a very good job of sending visuals. These visuals gave me a way to connect in the book because I could see and understand what camp green lake looked like. Another reason why I liked this book was because all of the characters were different from each other, they all had different strengths and weaknesses.

Book

This is a one of a kind book, it is one that you will remember for years and you will look back on it with favor and happiness. The author does a great job with this book, the story is good, the illustrations are great, and it's very memorable. I especially like this book because it is easy to get attached to each one of them. I speak from experience when I say, it is fun to reenact with friends or family, and it is relatively easy to do, I reckon I will get at least a "c" for my efforts. My English teacher is making me write a review for this book I do actually recommend it for all ages.

Holes

For school, we had to get in a group and pick books, my group picked this and i was like umm this is stupid. I didn’t read it for like the first 3 weeks, and that was only because i got pressured into it bc it’s school you know. But as i started reading more and more of the book, it got so interesting i couldn’t stop reading it. Overall this was a really good book and i would definitely recommend you read it:)

A absolute YA classic

If you love YA and you haven't read Holes, then you're doing yourself a huge disservice. I read this book when I was in high school and I still have my dogeared copy sitting on my book shelf. I crack it open every few years to enjoy it again. An absolute classic.

Excellent book!

I purchased this book a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be amazing. It arrived at my house in a package unscathed and with no scratch marks or rips. The book and story itself was very interesting. It had very unique characters along with an astonishing story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Overall, I do not see any downsides with this book and it is a great fictional story.
