Not my favorite
I’ve been trying to finish this book for weeks now. It’s slow and not catching my interest. I feel like the author is taking too long to get her point across and I am zoning out through paragraphs, and skipping through. As a romance reader I’m 20 chapters in and not sure I would consider this book just that yet.

Cant turn a FSC to a FMC
One of my anticipated reads for this year since I thoroughly enjoyed It Happened one Summer, but to be honest I did not love it as much. Granted, it made me happy to be back in our little Fishing town, be around Piper and Brennan, Fox, Opal, and with our vinyl 880's classic rock girlie Hannah... but we end up taking a deep plunge into emotions. SO. MANY. EMOTIONS. Personally I'd be more interested in their cute music sharing friendship, than be drug through that again. Nothing about this was realistic and it all seemed like a freaking cyclone, emotional rollercoaster, and super dramatic for no reason. Looks like I had very high hopes for a supporting character to have that same main character energy. How can two people go 7 months with texting back and forth, building this relationship via text and all of a sudden cannot hold an honest OPEN and clear conversation in person. It almost was as if I was reading about two 16 year old's who haven't had practice in adult conversations nad are going through a conflict for the first time. The characters had numerous opportunities to explain their feelings and every time a moment came up, the book seemed to veer in a totally opposite direction. It just became exhausting after a while. And the spice....it didn't do it for me. I'd give it 1.5/5 Fox is described as this player, nympho of a dude but we hardly get any of it on paper. Total disappointment. I did enjoy Hannah's story and her growth as a character, stick up for those who she lives, and take charge. One thing I love about her is she could see through Fox's bullsh*t for the most part, but even the she lacked some brain cells. By the end of the book I still felt that Fox was an emotional immature grown child and turned off by him. I still recommend this book though, as it could serve as a good palette cleanser, which that's what it was for me. Or, if you're curious about Piper's sister's story. But if I was to re-read, I would pickup IHOS instead. Onto the next one.

The bad boy and the little sister
Tessa Bailey strikes again! She's back with another Bellinger sisters books, or what I like to call the "spicy Cowbelles" series. TROPES: Friends to Lovers, Forced Proximity Hannah is in town for work, to the cute asf fishing town, and is crashing with "friend" Fox. Except for Fox has a massive crush on her, and is used to acting on what he wants... and getting it (enter: bad boy persona). And as much as he'd like to "get it" with Hannah, he is scared of ruining the friendship (he should really listen to that Demi Lovato song). SPICE: It does indeed get spicy - but in my personal opinion, Miss Tessa Bailey knows the perfect dose of spice for each dish - er book. She doesn't overdo it, or drag it out, and writes it oh, so well. I love these characters, these sisters, the town. 5/5 Stars. I bought copies after reading them on Netgalley because I enjoyed them so much - and will be rereading too!

This book gives you ALL the feels!
I just wanted to hug Fox! I swear there were so many takeaways from this story, I don’t even know where to begin. So many people told me they liked Hook, Line, and Sinker more than It Happened One Summer and now I know why. The evolution of Fox in this story was just…WOW! I know, not the best way to describe it with easy access to a dictionary but that is what comes to mind. Like Hannah, journeying back to Westport was filled with memories, hope, and dare I say it – closure as we wrap up our journey with Piper and Hannah Bellinger. Welcome back to Westport, Washington! In the second installment of the Bellinger sisters series, the story shifts its focus to Hannah – the self proclaimed “supporting actress” to her leading lady sister Piper. Having just returned to LA to continue her work as a production assistant, she finds herself more alone than she has ever been before. Two years into her unrequited crush for Sergei, the director – Hannah isn’t sure where she is going in life and while music fills heart, mind, and is the embodiment of her soul – something else is missing. It doesn’t help that she has reconnected with Fox, a relief skipper she met the prior summer. Rekindling their friendship gives not only companionship but a connection to a place where she had experienced one of the best summers of her life. Returning to work, she is surprised when a opportunity presents itself – Sergei needs a location suggestion for the movie as LA doesn’t feel right! What surprised her even more is when she opens her mouth and suggests Westport! She only suggested for her sister right? And her grandmother? She couldn’t possibly be suggesting it so she could see Fox. Fox who has essentially slept his way through the city of Seattle. Fox who clearly stated he didn’t do relationships. No – absolutely not, it was because she was just nostalgic. That’s it. It has to be – especially when she finds out Piper’s in-laws are going to be staying in the guest room and floats the idea of staying with Fox. Fox couldn’t be more thrilled to see Hannah again! She hadn’t left his thoughts since he met her the summer prior. That little fact is something he is determined to keep to himself. He couldn’t even imagine what the crew would say if they found out the player of Westport had a little crush. He gets a small taste of it when Brendon warns him to keep his hands to himself. Why doesn’t that surprise him. It’s how everyone has always seem him. Going to Seattle to get his rocks off, the butt of every joke, “Hide your daughters! Fox is on the hunt!” Doesn’t matter anyway, you can’t run away from the labels that have been on you since high school. He was no better than his father so why even bother. Maybe it was for the better, Hannah was his first female friend and he would only ruin things if it got physical. That’s just who he was. Why change now? There is so much to say about this book so I apologize in advance for the length of this review. For starters, I liked how the friendship between Hannah and Fox unfolded. He took such care of it and was so delicate. If any of his old ways came through, he was quick to apologize. Through words alone he showed how much he cherished Hannah and their bond. Hannah was in true form in this story. Watching her come into her own and not only be a force of nature, but be the gust of wind Fox desperately needed, her inner strength was something to be revered. I loved Fox’s evolution in this story! The battle of mind and heart, past and present, perception – it was like watching a boxing match. So raw, so psychologically violent, so much pain. You wanted to cheer for him but scream at him at the same time. I will honestly admit I was actually surprised how tame this book was compared to how Tessa Bailey normally writes steamy scenes. Don’t get me wrong, they were still dynamite but this book was more about the build up, teasing, and intimacy of it. Hook, Line, and Sinker takes ALL the feels, wraps them a beautiful bow, and waits for you to unwrap it, gifting you with joy, laughter, heartache, tears, and hope. While I am sad to see this series come to an end, I couldn’t imagine it continuing in any other way.

Loves the MC’s! They’re so real!
I loved both main characters. This was an amazing second book in the duology! I loved how Fox’s insecurities were unraveled and addressed because of Hannah’s tenacity.

swoony friends to lovers!
Genre: Contemporary Romance Format: Physical 4.25 stars - I enjoyed it! After loving IHOS, I was so excited to jump back into the Bellinger sister’s world! I loved Hannah and Fox in the first book and anticipated loving this one too! I love a friends-to-lovers and thought there were a lot of really sweet and swoon-worthy moments between them, while still maintaining that signature spice that Tessa Bailey always delivers! I love her witty banter and how funny she makes all her books! Overall I feel like the growth wasn’t as dynamic for Fox and Hannah compared to Piper and Brendan, but I still really enjoyed their relationship. The epilogue for this one was just perfect.

Love, love, love!
I read Hook, Line, and Sinker with anchoredreadsbookclub on Instagram and was excited to get into Hannah and Fox’s story after It Happened One Summer because Hannah and Fox felt much more like “my kind of people.” Since I relate to Hannah’s love of music and Fox’s self-consciousness, I wasn’t let down by their story. I found them to have much more chemistry than Piper and Brendan–as much as I love an enemies-to-lovers trope, I just couldn’t click with Piper and Brendan. I think friends-to-lovers is a little overrated, but Hannah and Fox’s chemistry was absolutely on fire. I think Tessa Bailey built up the sexual tension between Fox and Hannah more so than she did for Piper and Brendan which made Hannah and Fox infinitely sexier, in my opinion. To be honest, this was the kind of book that didn’t really have anything wrong with it, in my opinion. While it was NA romance, it wasn’t something I would totally fan-girl over, but I was satisfied with the story and characters the whole way through. I remember feeling like the one thing I didn’t like about Brendan in It Happened One Summer was that his use of the term of endearment “baby” didn’t feel natural for his character, but when Fox calls Hannah “babe,” I may have actually swooned a time or two! My favorite thing about this book was Fox’s self-consciousness about his promiscuity and the underlying causes of it. I totally related and loved that Hannah was supportive of and defended him. In It Happened One Summer, I remember Brendan asking Piper to let things go and Piper had a hard time doing that, because it can be a lot to “let things go;” it’s not as easy as it sounds. But in Hook, Line, and Sinker, Hannah never pushes Fox, and while the outcome is the same, he’s able to let go of the past; her strategy makes all the difference. In the end, HLS is getting 5 stars!

Such a Fun, Cute Read
5/5 stars 4/5 spice I was so excited for Hannah and Fox's story and it did not disappoint. I loved them both in IHOS, watching their friendship form was a lot of fun. Seeing Fox change his ways for Hannah was adorable and so sweet. I especially loved the music aspect of the story, sending each other mood songs and telling each other important things via song. The spice was a lot of fun and had some laugh out loud moments. The quirkiness Tessa brings to her stories is just perfect.
