A New York Times Bestseller. An Instant Indie Bestseller. A dark, twisty modern fairytale where three sisters discover they are not exactly all that they seem and evil things really do go bump in the night. Iris Hollow and her two older sisters are unquestionably strange. Ever since they disappeared on a suburban street in Scotland as children only to return a month a later with no memory of what happened to them, odd, eerie occurrences seem to follow in their wake. And they're changing. First, their dark hair turned white. Then, their blue eyes slowly turned black. They have insatiable appetites yet never gain weight. People find them disturbingly intoxicating, unbearably beautiful, and inexplicably dangerous. But now, ten years later, seventeen-year-old Iris Hollow is doing all she can to fit in and graduate high school on time something her two famously glamourous globe-trotting older sisters, Grey and Vivi, never managed to do. But when Grey goes missing without a trace, leaving behind bizarre clues as to what might have happened, Iris and Vivi are left to trace her last few days. They aren't the only ones looking for her though. As they brush against the supernatural they realize that the story they've been told about their past is unraveling and the world that returned them seemingly unharmed ten years ago, might just be calling them home.

loved it!

I absolutely loved every moment of this book. It sucked me in right from the beginning, and I didn't want to put it down. It was eerie, spooky and read just like a fairy tale. Once upon a time three sisters vanished without a trace.. and just as suddenly they came back.. However they came back different, their hair began to turn blonde and their eyes went black. Baby teeth that had been lost seems to have grown back.. They were special in other ways too, they could make almost every one do whatever they wanted.. . After the oldest sisters Grey and Vivi left home Iris was left with her mother.. Who has become very over protective.. When Grey fails to show up to a club where Vivis band is playing and she sees a strange man in the back with a bull skull atop his head. Both Vivi and Iris know something is wrong. They begin to search through Greys life looking for clues that she purposly left behind for her sisters to find.. Turns out Grey going missing could be linked to when they all dissapeared years ago.. and what they find is truly unbelieveable.. . As soon as I read the first few pages I knew that this was going to be a new favorite, and I was right.. I thought about this story long after I finished it and I will definely be reading this again and again.

10/10

This book showcases a perfect blend of raw femininity and utter horror. I flew through this book as I couldn't stop to put it down. This book is dark and full of plot twists that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I've only read it once but it has certainly become one of my favorites. It is definitely unsettling and dark, so if that's not really your thing, you probably won't care to much for it. On the other had, if you are like me and think the darker, the better, then this is the perfect book to read next. I hope everyone who reads this book is able to appreciate it as much as I do. The dark and twistedness paired with the imagery in this book is absolutely immaculate and will transport you right into the world of the Hollow sisters. This book is the kind of book where the second you finish it you just want to flip right back to the beginning and read it all over again.

fairy tale like

This book was everything i could have asked for. In House of Hollow we follow three sisters, one of which has misteriouslt dissapeared, and two who go looking for her. It's not the first time they dissapear, though. when they were little, the sisters went missing for a whole mont and came back inexplicably, unexpectedly and unhurt, excepto for a small crescent scar on the throat, but forever changed. They don't remember what happened. Now, when one of them vanished off the face of the earth again, the two that remain must face their past and try to uncover what went down in order to try and save their sister (but, does she need saving? and from what?). The characters are completely multi dimentional, complex, layered. The relationships they form feel extremely real, vulnerable and raw and the writing was just stunning, nothing short of a fairytale.

Perfect for those who are fans of dark fairytales

I love fairytale retellings, and while this one isn’t a retelling of an existing fairytale, it definitely is reminiscent of a dark fairytale. I loved that it was so original, and it definitely brought in some elements that I didn’t expect. As I said, it’s dark and creepy, but not so creepy they a lightweight like me couldn’t handle it. It’s currently a stand alone, but the author definitely left the ending open enough a sequel could be made, and I’d love it if there was. As far as age, I’m not sure that I’d recommend this for most 12 yr olds. I’d suggest at least a little into the teens due to some of the themes and plot points.

Best Read

I bought this book not too long ago. I haven't been much of a reader because I am so picky. I had this book read in a week. It was amazing and spooky and fantastical all at the same time.
