Very stiff as a choker necklace

My wife wanted to wear this as a fitted collar on the shortest adjustment link. It is extremely difficult to pull the ends close together to secure the catch to the other end. I'm so afraid the catch will break off while manipulating it. I like the concept and just hope it holds up. The pearl pendant is pretty. If you want to wear it longer and looser, you'll be fine, but her wish was to wear it strictly around her neck, not below.
