A New York Times Bestseller If he had been with me, everything would have been different... Autumn and Finn used to be inseparable. But then something changed. Or they changed. Now, they do their best to ignore each other. Autumn has her boyfriend Jamie, and her close-knit group of friends. And Finn has become that boy at school, the one everyone wants to be around. That still doesn't stop the way Autumn feels every time she and Finn cross paths, and the growing, nagging thought that maybe things could have been different. Maybe they should be together. But come August, things will change forever. And as time passes, Autumn will be forced to confront how else life might have been different if they had never parted ways... Perfect for readers of All the Bright Places, How She Died, How I Lived, and Dear Evan Hansen, If He Had Been with Me is a beautiful, raw portrait of love, regret, and the life-altering impact of the relationships we hold closest to us.

Way too boring

I really tried to give this book a chance due to the description sounding interesting. However, the book was anything but that. First of all, the story itself fell flat to me since it felt like just a typical boring teenage drama series. I had no connection to the main character and had no desire to keep reading to find out more about her or what happened next. Secondly, the setting for every scene (if you could call it that) was constantly changing and was doing so at what felt like a rapid pace. It made it difficult to remember where the characters were half the time. Finally, there just wasn't anything keeping me hooked or invested. Like I said before, it just felt like a boring teenage drama series. Even the writing itself felt childish at times. I made it halfway through chapter eighteen before giving up. Would not recommend.

Left me sobbing in the corner by the end

Quick Opinion 💭: Left me sobbing in the corner by the end Why I Read This 📌: Popular BookTok Recommendation My Summary 📝: What starts off as an emotional love story between two childhood friends drifting apart and confronting what could have been, ends as a devastating, tragic gut-punch you’ll never forget. My Review 💔: I still don’t know why anyone would willingly subject themselves to the heartbreak of this book but somehow, that made me love it even more. I was emotionally wrecked by the end. I wanted to rip the pages out of the book and use them as tissues for my tears. The writing is deceptively simple but incredibly powerful, and the emotional depth Nowlin brings to the characters is what makes the story so unforgettable. It’s the kind of book that devastates you in the best way.

The story of "What If"

This book isn't for everyone. The past does not replay in everyone's mind rent free. That's essentially what this book is, a replay to the "what if" moment. I wish I read this book during my highschool years as it touched upon depression, the past, and being more observant than the rest of your peers. Autumn may be a fictional character, but it feels like I have gained an ally and friend, perhaps you will too.

THIS BOOK IS TERRIBLE!

I bought this book a while ago and ended up quitting halfway through. I didn't relate to the main character at ALL, in fact I thought she was very annoying and i found it a struggle to read from her POV. I skimmed to the end, and it wasn't even that sad. Like we weren't even attached to that character yet and oops he died. That being said, I think this might be the worst book I have ever read, and I do NOT reccommend. I ended up throwing the book in the trash it was so terrible.

Best book I’ve read

This book was so beautifully written. The way it outlines growing up, love, high school life, heartbreak, was just amazing. I was able to relate a lot. It broke my heart and I cried for hours because of this book. The ending hurt me so much but it was so beautifully written! BUY THIS BOOK

Overhyped

This book in my opinion was pretty draggy and then became supper eventful at the end of the book. Other than that it deals with a lot of hard topics like celibacy.
