Best book in the series so far!
WOW! What a difference from the first two books! Ignite Me was the first book where I had the urgency to keep reading and I couldn't wait to find out what happens. It took this long for Juliette to get it together and realize that there are bigger issues than her relationship with Adam, but we finally got there and I am so glad I didn't have to read through all her repetitive thoughts in this book. Kenji and Juliette's friendship dynamic was my favorite thing about this book. I don't know when their friendship developed so much but I. Am. Here. For. It. I love that Kenji keeps it real with her and calls her out whenever she's being stupid while still showing how much he cares for her. I'm also really glad that Juliette finds comfort in talking to him because it's really great to see her voice things instead of just reading her internal thoughts. Kenji definitely makes Juliette less dramatic(?) and she's a lot more tolerable with him around. As for Adam, I still felt bad for him right up until almost halfway. I don't know what happened in this book but he felt like a completely different character. He had no regards to anyone's feelings and didn't care at all if anyone got hurt. He just kept opening his mouth and making it worse. It reminded me of his novella, in which I thought his reaction to what happened to Juliette at the end was odd because it didn't seem like he cared at all and all he said was that it was all his fault. I have no idea where the drastic change in his character came from but there were some things he said (and did) that I just cannot get over and forever ruined his character for me. I'm loving the way that Aaron's character develops. There still seems to be a lot to uncover but as we learn more about him through Juliette, I can definitely see the growth of his character along with his relationship with Juliette. There's a lot of depth to Aaron's character. Though this book has been my favorite so far, there were still changes that felt very jarring to me because of how abruptly the characters changed. I love that Juliette has become more in tune with herself and is a lot less petty but considering she spent the first two books doing essentially nothing, I can't wrap my mind around her wanting to lead everything by the end of this book. And again, Adam's character was just... so out-of-pocket that I couldn't even comprehend what had happened to him, regardless of how Juliette has "changed". Overall, the flow of this series so far has been all over the place but the writing was better and this book was a lot more interesting!
