Love my new portable speaker! Ready to use straight out of the box and connecting it to my phone and tv was a breeze. I’ve got a fire tv and initially the speaker synced with the audio from the tv and they matched perfectly. But I did find that the next time I used it the lag was noticeable, luckily I can alter that in the settings to get lip sync. Sadly I can’t do that with my virgin media set top box, it’s forever lagging, so annoying. It’s a shame there isn’t a facility in the app to be able to tweak any issues with lag. There are a few settings in the app that you can change, such as customising the equaliser and changing the colour/brightness of the light. And it shows battery percentage. The strip of light going down the edge of the speaker isn’t something I’ll use, it just doesn’t appeal to me. Sound quality is excellent, good amount of base and speech is really clear when watching tv, which is particularly useful for me as I’m a bit of a night owl and normally end up putting on subtitles late at night so my tv doesn’t disturb the neighbours. Now I can have this little speaker near to me and hear everything perfectly without it being heard by anyone else. I want the loop on the back to be big enough to actually get my finger in to carry the speaker, it’s ridiculously small. Forgot to mention that the play button on the front actually pauses and plays the tv as well! Overall I really like it, especially as it’s waterproof, so I’ve no worries about taking it into the bathroom when I have a bath or shower.

Great features
I love this jbl compact speaker. Its has a good battery life and the bass is deep and the sound is crisp and it looks amazing with those cool lights. It is compact and easy to take anywhere even in a handbag. It has a little loop to hang which make it more convenient

Nice Speaker
I bought this speaker a few days ago and I'm super happy with it. Even though it's small, it has incredible sound quality! And the battery lasts an impressive amount of time!

Great speaker for outdoors.
The JBL Grip is a great little speaker. The sound quality and bass is great. I’ve only had it on 30% volume in doors as don’t want to upset neighbours. Outdoors the volumes good but the bass you don’t really feel it probably because it’s all open there’s no where for the sound to bounce off. The app that connects is nice and simple takes seconds to set up. Make sure you’ve got a usb charger as this doesn’t come with one. The light is a nice little feature I’ve sat on a bench listening to music at night with the light going and waves crashing on the sea wall it was a nice vibe. I haven’t tested out the water proof feature. The battery last a good amount of time. Has some nice EQ settings already pre programmed into the app so can pick what you want. Overall it’s a great little speaker.

Get what you paid for
Base is lacking. Design is very nice. Fits in a cup holder, so great for a golf cart, pool float, or beach chair. Sound quality is mid.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the JBL Grip. While we strive for all our products to meet the highest standards, we understand this wasn't the case for you. Your feedback is important and will be relayed directly to our product development team as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our offerings.
No charger
Got this from my work as a 25 years of service gift. (I know that’s it) And a charging cord is not included. That’s annoying!

Thanks for your feedback. To minimize e-waste, we consciously choose not to include a charging cable in our packaging. You can use any standard USB-C cable to charge your JBL Grip, as well as a power adapter compliant with the USB-C standard. Past products already have standardized USB-C cables, which can be reused for new products.
Great sound quality
This is a great portable speaker. Bought to update from the JBL flip and impressed so far. It’s lightweight, and easy to carry around. The sound quality is great and it goes to a decent volume for its size. A brilliant feature is the ‘equaliser’ on the app which lets you change the sound to different vibes such as chill or energetic. I love that you can connect multiple speakers together for an even bigger sound and have music playing in different rooms. This is easy to do through the app. This speaker has a light feature which is a nice little bonus and can also be controlled through the app. The battery life is long lasting and would last an evening. I rate JBL as a brand, having had a previous speaker and earphones, which were also great products. The only downside is that it didn’t come with a charging cable. Other than that, it’s a great little speaker for travel, or just listening around the house.

Great speaker ideal for a shower sing along
A bit of background - I have used many JBL products, headphones, soundbars, speakers and portable speakers within the Grip category. Up until around a month ago the JBL Clip 5 was my go to, budget friendly, portable (bathroom friendly), speaker of choice. However, I left it on holiday and was seeking a replacement. I contemplated getting another Clip 5 (it's a great speaker) but then I had the opportunity to try the Grip at a price point which was very similar. On paper, the Grip 5 seems to have far superior specs, so I was expecting a huge leap in both sound output and audio quality. When the Grip arrived, I was quite surprised at how small it was, I was expecting it to be much larger. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with a loop/strap, which is something I was concerned about it not having as my primary use for this was in the shower. So, off to a great start, I turned it on, paired it with my phone, updated it and hung it up in the shower. This is when I realised that the reality is, acoustics in a shower, in a small bathroom, don't really allow for much greater output from a portable speaker than what I was getting previously with the Clip 5. Then there's the light, it's cool, I guess. In fact it might be useful if you're using this as a camping speaker or outside at a party, but for my use case, it doesn't really add any value and it remains turned off. In isolation, this would be a fantastic portable speaker and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, however when JBL have so many other excellent speakers (that are also cheaper) it's hard to recommend this over some of the other options if you're solely looking for a speaker to use in the bathroom.
