Crotch split open during first use.

I wore these one time and the whole crotch area split open. What happened to quality?

Splitting inseams

I received a pair as a Christmas gift from my mom. She deliberately got them a size too large, as I like. And I air dry them so that they won’t shrink. The inseams have started to split after barely 4 months of occasional wear.
