Odd waistline

The "waist" portion of this dress was 4 inches above my belly button so it hung very strangely. It looked like an empire waist. Since the pattern changed to differentiate the waist from the bodice of the dress, it looked strange on me. I returned it. The fabric was nice quality. It could have worked if it was knitted in all one pattern so not so noticeable. The overall length and fit were good.
