Deteriorating Quality?

I bought this to replace an old one, which I loved dearly but lost it on a trip. After one use, the leather wore off to a very light color in two places where pressure was applied for the buckle. It seems the coloration process might be different than it used to be. I hope not as J&M has been my go to brand but this has me worrying the quality is going down.

Statement of Style

I was looking for a belt that would coordinate with the broguing on my wingtip oxford. This belt nicely echos and brings together that feature. The belt is of a very high quality and not just a strap of leather that is meant to keep my pants from falling. It is a statement of style.
