From master thriller writer Michael Crichton: Two imaginative masterpieces of speculative science, full of adventure and larger-than-life characters. In Jurassic Park, scientists of today clone dinosaurs of the prehistoric past to serve as attractions in a modern theme park. When a rival biogenetic firm attempts to steal the scientists secret, the stage is set for a nightmare of science and dinosaurs run amok. The Lost World picks up the story six years later, with scientists scrambling to find the jungle island that served as the dinosaur production factory for Jurassic Park. Once again, rivalry and subterfuge combine to create life-threatening dangers for the scientists, who must contend with the rampaging dinosaurs as well as their cutthroat competitors. This volume contains the full text of both of Michael Crichton's bestselling novels. Featuring a beautifully stamped bonded leather cover, gilt edging, colorful endpapers, and a satin-ribbon bookmark, this collectible edition is a fine addition to any home library.

Great story, bad cover

I purchased this book recently, I have to say that it is a good read. The only problem I have is that the black ink on the cover smears when touched, and stains the white cover. I don't know if this is something only I have experienced, but the bald spot of the dinosaurs on the cover ruins the cover.

Great Story/Writing. Bad Physical Book

I generally don't factor the physical book into my review, out of fairness to the author. However, in this case, I don't think my review will tarnish Crichton's reputation. Make no mistake, the story and writing are an easy 5/5 stars. Unfortunately, this edition seems to be for the "Book Tok" crowd or generally people who purchase books as decorations and never read them. The cover admittedly is stunning, and it's what landed me on this purchase after deciding I wanted to read Jurrasic Park (and The Lost World). Now for my complaint. The pages are comically thin, almost tissue paper. Text bleeds through heavily, making it difficult to read, especially with a properly lit reading area. Maybe eliminate the tacky gold coating on the page edges next time and use that production cost for higher quality pages. The other B&N exclusive I got also had tissue paper pages. Sadly, I don't think I'll purchase another B&N exclusive again. They look great on the shelf, but the reading experience is uncomfortable at best. Please stop catering to the books-as-decorations crowd.

Depends on you

The book is great and still holds up as a thrill ride with deep takes on science and technology progression and those who use it or gain from it but this review is mainly for the look and structure of this cover, it’s a solid piece that holds up over time and I haven’t had any issue with it coming loose from the binding or issues with the pages. For the color on the other hand, it will change definitely depending on how much you use the book, if you’re using this to read like normal like I did then over time as the oils from your hands hold the book the red and white dye of the cover will bleed and start showing where you hold it and put the most pressure like how a brass statue shows where the most people touch it. For me personally I like this and I’m okay with it because it’s my book and for me that shows the genuine time I put into it but if you’re a collector who wants the look of that cover to never change than I would suggest using this only as a display book and using a different copy to read.

Absolutely Amazing

This book was absolutely amazing and I have been recommending it to everyone I know. This book was packed with moments where I had chills all over my body and could not put the book down because I had to know what happened next. I’m not big on horror so I wouldn’t classify this as a super scary book, but there were moments that were frightening. If you loved the Jurassic Park movies, then you will love the book even more! In addition, I recommend getting this book because it has the first and second book in one book. It is as well beautifully made, and I love the hard cover.

Overall, flat out amazing!

I bought this the few days ago, and I have been reading it nonstop, in fact done with the first book already. I have seen some reviews talk about red ink on the cover messing up the cover and the pages, but I haven't seen any red ink move, yet bleed into and on the page, tho this is my personal experience. Anyways about the book, now if you like the Jurassic Park franchise, both books are different enough from their movies, that they might as well be considered all new movies, so if you like the movies, I would recommend this book, and if you like Michael Crichton's other work, I'd also recommend it. The little attached ribbon bookmark is also rather handy, and the silver tipped pages bring it's cover design aesthetic out more. The book was all together excellent, and that's really all I have to say.
