Strange fit thru waist and hips; runs small

Nice fabric but the rise and fit through the tummy area were a bit strange, and the waist was too small even though I ordered a size up, so I returned them. I usually wear a size 10 in jeans and pants; sometimes a 12. I ordered these in a size 12 and the waist was too small. Not only that, the rise was higher than I like (even these "mid-rise" pants were high-rise, in my opinion, which is tricky for me). They're nice fabric and the length was perfect (I'm 5' 6"), but they didn't work for me (and I couldn't button them) so I had to return them.
