Purchasing Gifts from Macy's

I am happy with my purchase but I am not happy with your return policy for this purchase. I cannot get a gift receipt because they told me it was a marketplace purchase which is new to me. Also, the recipient cannot return them for a store credit to exchange if need be. You have ruined our ability to buy gifts for special occasions such as shower, wedding and other important events. These items need to be purchased in advance to allow us to pick from a registry even if the registry is not at Macy's. Your 30 day strict return policy has ruined shopping at Macy's. When an item is returned still in original packing with tags and a receipt, you should allow 90 days to exchange it for store credit. You can limit cash back returns to 30 days but it is unreasonable to not allow an exchange for a longer period. I have been a Macy's platinum card holder for years and this is going to difficult to maintain. At my age, I do more gift purchases than spending for myself. It's not fair to make it impossible to enjoy shopping during your sales to pick up gifts in advance for special occasions. I will not recommend family and friends to do their gift shopping with Macy's. No one should buy a gift for someone and expect them to be stuck with it if they are not happy with their gift or if it doesn't fit. The changes Macy's have made are not customer oriented.
