Eye opening history
A book about King Leopold II of Belgium who swept up the Congo largely with the help of Henry Morton Stanley the explorer. Yes, that Henry Morton Stanley, the one of Stanley & Livingstone fame. A brutal book about the plunder of Africa and the absolutely inhuman treatment of the people that lived there. That it went on for so long is horrible. The lies of the King are unfathomable. And as far as Stanley goes, he was a truly evil person. I never would have known.
