Lovely design….Great product.

I’ve owned this burr grinder for a while now and I love it. I love the industrial design, feel and look of it, being metal and glass. The large adjustment wheel is nice with solid clicks when notched into each grind setting….I haven’t had any major issues with it, just a minor lock up or blockage which was easily cleared, from the frontal access to the gear mechanism , by the large screws on the front with access to burr grind gears. This burr grinder I love, I’ve owned others and even have a very nice burr hand grinder which is a sweet little solid milled tool, but the kitchen aid grinder is the one l love…..for looks….as it has an artistic, eye pleasing design with a functional use….all to bring together a great cup of coffee

Stay away.

Bought this coffee grinder 4 years ago. This is not a "spur-of-the-moment" review. It was a constant disappointment! It is constantly clogging with coffee beans because of the faulty design. It cannot grind consistently for espresso machines. It stops grinding without any warning because of bad design. Cleaning is very time consuming and tedious. For filter coffee it is probably good enough. Keep in mind however, that it will clog all the time and you will need to disassemble, clean and re-assemble all the time. After 3 years of struggle, I replaced it with an Italian-made grinder and never looked back. I do not recommend this product: poorly designed and poorly manufactured.

Shameful

Feels like deceptive marketing. Built like their famous stand mixer - heavy metal casing, metal cover on the bottom, proper machine screws. Take it apart to clean it and you'll find nice steel burr plates, heavy machine screws and there's even a brass bushing for the shaft. Take the motor out to realize that the motor, which is a heavy duty one, is married to the drive shaft with a planetary transmission that can best be described as "made of cheese". Why fall down here? Why can't I buy parts? Shameful.

Plastic gears and incapable of espresso grind

Plastic gears stripped out 3 months after warranty ended. Company isn’t stepping up. Waste of money. Quite incapable of grinding fine for espresso anyway, but okay for drip coffee.

Best one I've used

This is the 3rd Kitchen Aid burr grinder I've purchased because it's much better than any other grinder. I do use hearing protection when I grind since I use it daily.

Superb performer

I admit to being a coffee purist. Probably my recent purchase of a commercial coffee roaster would bear this out. The roaster provides me with amazing finished beans from all over the world. Early in my coffee journey, I learned that great coffee beans are useless without a proper grind. I tried several coffee grinders, only to end up with irregular sized grounds that were full of static electricity. But over twenty years ago, I discovered the brilliantly designed, quality built, KitchenAid ProLine grinder. Such a performer!! It produces even sized grounds, with no static electricity. At around year 17, I replaced the burrs. That’s been the only maintenance I’ve performed on this flawless machine. And the delicious coffee I’ve enjoyed over twenty years would have been far less enjoyable had I not found this machine. Needless to say, I recommend the KitchenAid ProLine coffee grinder wholeheartedly!

Going strong after 18 years, static prevention.

I bought the grinder 20 years ago, had some issues with bean bridging (wouldn't feed up top) with the original design so KitchenAid replaced it under warranty. I've used my grinder almost daily for 18 years. I had some issues with static making fine grounds difficult to fall cleanly into the receiver bowl. I now use an eye dropper with water (reverse osmosis) and drop 2 drops into the feed throat of the grinder before I put the beans in and an additional 1 to 2 drops depending on amount of beans I'm grinding. 18-20 grams of beans = 3 drops, 24-30 grams = 4 drops. I weigh out the beans before each grind so I don't keep beans in the hopper, allowing me to do the water drop thing. This has eliminated all static problems for me over the years (probably been doing this 10 years now). The grinder is powerful and grinds pretty uniformly, especially with finer grinds. Even though my unit was a redesign from the original, it still has some issues with the beans not feeding completely into the throat without me grabbing the grinder by the sides and shaking it while grinding! The unit has a flat burr design for whatever that's worth. I'm going to be critical and taking one star off for the fact that I have to shake the unit to get all beans to feed. KitchenAid customer support was extremely helpful and customer oriented when I had to deal with the original unit 18 years ago. I hope they are as great now!
