Why does this brush smell like chemicals?

This lovely soft brush smells like chemicals - it almost a strong paint thinner meets la mer fragrance. But all bad nothing good. Makes me wonder about their products. Such a bummer too because the bristles are so soft and lovely

Elegant brush

I have a makeup brush that is old, made out of horsetail, that I bought in the UK years ago. This brush reminds of my wonderful brush from the UK. It is well made, elegant and feels wonderful to use. I never thought I would find again, another wonderful brush. This one is!
