Remote-Controlled Stunt Racer 42095
Product details
Web ID: 8268920fragile for a working toy
This one has some fundamental structure flaws, like the rear wheelie wheels are so flimsily set they come off constantly. So does the control block which is set with just two black pins to the back of the body. There is too much torque on the drive train to keep the front wheel assembly from crumbling during play and this thing does not survive crashes. We were constantly fixing it until I decided to lock the weak points in place with super glue. This is not how a working lego toy should be made. On the other hand, its appropriately powered for an RC lego Toy, unlike a certain race car.... and when not broken its a gas.

Fun Technic
I bought this LEGO for the motors. I did research the product before but was dubious because it has a screw for the battery remote which will eventually wear away in the LEGO. I ended up purchasing the product and built it. There are some issues with the design which I will improve. I got my girlfriends daughter to test it out and it showed me some flaws. The wires are not protected on the back and if smashed too much in reverse will eventually damage the wires. The wheelie mechanism on the back is flimsy and comes off when the car spins and knocks the back struts off. It should generally be a more robust build but in saying that it is a lot of fun to play with. Testing it around your pets is a hoot and it is fairly quick especially compared to the Rally Car. The complaint I received about the play was that with the tracks it could not climb but this I know is a limited build. Also if the LEGO flips the aerial may get bent or worse. I will merge another LEGO to get a better design for more damage protection.

It is a good set but when you steer it on smooth surfaces it literally has not traction, they should of have put rubber on the treads. It works best on carpet.

No Control!!
The build for this set is fine. The treads are tedious and take a lot of time relative to the rest of the model. The play experience is very poor. There is no throttle control, either all on or all off. It is too fast to use in smaller spaces. Turning causes the vehicle to spin too quickly so getting the direction you want is all luck. My kids, 12 and 15 watched me drive this once and had no interest in even trying it themselves. This is going in the parts bin.

Fun, satisfying build and great fun to play
I've had many technic sets over the years and have returned again now that I'm a father. the build itself was medium difficulty great for a beginner looking for a challenge. I have great fun every few days when my 2 year old invades my home office and wants to watch me play with the car (and run in terrified giggles when it comes towards him) This build rekindled my love of technic and has defiantly led to my son being curious about how things work, I couldn't have asked for a better result.

Good, with one improvement, could be great
I bought this for my kids (9 and 4) to teach them about gears and how skid steering works. Went together fairly smoothly and is very fun to drive. On carpet, this thing is awesome! The only drawback is operating on tile, laminate, and hardwood floors. It just has no real traction. If Lego had included the rubber track studs that they use in other sets, it would be able to climb steeper angles and have much better control on hard floors.

IR Receiver Troubles
Has problems with IR Receiver in LEGO 42095 Remote-Controlled Stunt Racer Pack. Works fine at the beginning but in month - it just stopped working. Light is glowing all time but signal is not transported to motor engine. Unfortunately I didn't find any workarounds or reset instructions.

Wheelies
With the high power to weight ratio and the centre of mass positioned high over the rear axle this thing does wheelies during acceleration. The wheelie bar at the back works well and the low mass means it is fast, but still safe indoors. The two 16 tooth gears on either side can be changed to a 12 tooth and a 20 tooth to provide either higher top speeds or higher torque. The build is not too long, and is not repetitious, and uses some clever techniques (minifigure paint rollers for mirrors, complex angles used to mount return rollers). I bought this set for the motors, and it has made a strong case for me to leave it assembled.
