Stiff is the Authentic STF fabric

Today's 501 STF are like a cloud compared to the ones made in the 70's. The fabric was thicker and hence, similar to cardboard when new and unwashed. BUT they wore like iron (once they were laundered 4 - 5 times and you could move in them)and with wear, nothing felt as comfortable and rugged as these original Levis. The initial concept of denin was a fabric for work clothes. To integrate the style into everday wear ( and save money) the fabric was made thinner. Ugh! So, you sissies, buy the Levis with stretch...and quit complaining about a vintage piece of clothing.
