RECEIVED WRONG ITEM WHEN I GOT HOME AND OPENED BAG

I picked up in store from macys and I was staying quite far from the store at the time. I opened the bag and saw it was NOT the item I ordered. Not only did I have to contact customer service, but I’m also told I have to make a trip to UPS and ship it myself?? Why must I do extra steps and use my own transportation in this time of budget tightness when the mistake wasn’t on me?? Please help
