Love the 18:16 aspect ratio (when rotated)

The 28MQ780-B "DualUp" 16:18 aspect ratio monitor is one of my favorite displays for productivity. It has a fantastic desk mount solution already included that has full motion articulation and is simple to mount to the back of a desk (or through in my case using a custom hole I already made.) The sharp display resolution is perfect for creating a crisp viewing experience and it is fairly readable throughout its entire height. Inputs are good; it has the typical HDMI, DP, and audio out (it also features built-in speakers, but they are limited in capability.) It also features USB-B and USB-C connectivity. Admittedly, I didn't use the USB-C so cannot comment on it, but I believe it passes through video and even the USB-A ports on the display all through the single cable. I mostly use this with a desktop, so wasn't too concerned with minimizing port usage. I will make one note: I prefer to run it in 18:16 using my OS rotation settings to rotate the image 90 degrees instead of the normal 16:18 it was meant to run at. On my desk the pseudo (lol I typed sudo originally....) 4:3 aspect ratio feels much better to look at and I don't struggle to see the top edge as much from a normal seated position. It feels more natural. LG, if you are listening and want to do a 2nd generation!!!!! Please consider 18:16 aspect ratio as the default!!! A lot of the reviews below seem to have already discovered this as well and I do agree; it is the better layout! If anything, offer us an option in the display menu to force the rotation of the UI as it is a bit weird operating it on its side. I love this display; it is great for Excel and programming of any kind as it shows way more information than any normal display could because of its fantastic dual 2560x1440 resolution. I know we moved away from 4:3 in favor of 16:9, but this totally makes me wish 4:3 (or some variant close to 1:1 would make a comeback!)

Bought 2, One Failed

I bought two of these a couple of years ago for a dual monitor setup. One monitor still works well. The other started failing about 6 months ago with intermiten flickering and ghosting. The monitor displays ghost images from previous days, including when the screen should be black. I’ve confirmed this persists across ports, cables, and systems. My second identical LG 28MQ780-B unit does not have this problem. This appears to be a panel or T-Con failure.

Lacks one feature which would make it elite

I love this monitor- I'd love it more if you could rotate the image via the OSD. Use case example- plug in a games console and rotate the image using the OSD to enjoy near 4:3 aspect ratios. I emailed and they said its not on their firmware upgrade path :( So a steady 3 for me until this potential is realised.

Close to perfection

Amazing monitor and love the resolution! Use it as my side monitor and it "upgraded" my 2k 32". Only thing that could make this better is an ultrawide format. If they did, I would run 2 of these as primary monitors.

We’re so glad to hear you’re loving your new monitor and the resolution—sounds like it’s really elevating your setup TLengert! We totally get how an ultrawide format would take it to the next level, and who knows, maybe that’s something to look forward to in the future! Thanks for choosing LG, and if you ever need anything else to enhance your experience, we’ve got you covered! 💙 ^Anthony

Flickering randomly

I have two 28MQ780-B monitors. Both are flickering at random times, ones or twice per month. Never together at the same time. It will go away in several hours and then work OK for 2-3 weeks. Took them to a certified repair shop, but they were fine on arrival. Very disappointed LG!

Portrait Perfection

Love this monitor! Portrait mode is ideal for writing and programming. So much more useful screen real estate, even compared to my large wide-format monitor. Already considering getting a second one. Dearly hope LG continues to pursue this format. The 28" DualUp is already a great monitor, but if there were an even larger (wider) version, I'd crawl through an obstacle course to get it.

The epitome of productivity!

After being laid off in July due to the challenging job market, I decided to fully commit to day trading. This has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made. As a full-time day trader, I needed an extra monitor to enhance my performance, and this Dual Up monitor has been a game-changer. I can effortlessly manage multiple windows, charts, and accounts all at once. If you're looking for a boost in productivity, this is the way to go. The screen size is impressive, the colors are vibrant, and the mobility is outstanding, I absolutely love it—100/10 recommend!

What an awesome monitor!

I purchased a dual-up monitor a month ago to use while working from home, and it has been fantastic, especially for Excel. The screen is excellent, allowing me to view a large amount of data at once. I'm so impressed that I'm already considering buying a second dual-up monitor in the near future
