Dark YA Thriller

3.5 Stars - rounding down I get a kick out of choosing books based on their cover without reading the description. Although it usually works out well because I check reviews, it's a gamble and doesn't always work in my favor. I listened to "Lock the Doors," a YA thriller, which is not my typical genre. Every book has its audience. Unfortunately, I’m not the one for this one. Although the audiobook helped me stay engaged, the first half was fairly slow. It picks up the pace in the second half, but it's still a typical young adult thriller. #LockTheDoors #VincentRalph #TantorMedia #LibbyBooks #YAThriller #justfinished #honestreview #thriller #bookreviewer #thrillerbookloverspromotions #thrillerfriendsunite #thrillerobsessedbookishclub #ReadersOfTheLateArc #TalkWordyToMeTeam #lovetoread #bookworm #lovebooks #booknerd #readaholic #bookstagrammer

Great read

I will say this book was a little slow at first; once it got going it was hard to put it down. The plot was unlike anything I have read before! Honestly they should make this a movie, I think it would be really popular.

Love This Book!

I love this book! I could not put the book down! Every chapter drew me farther and farther into the story, keeping me turning the page. The book was a whole mystery to solve with many plot twists and turns you wouldn't fully expect. The book did switch narrators but the switch in perspectives gave us insight on the past that really opened up the story. In all, it was a great read and I highly reccommend!

Good but limited

Great book and has a very good storyline, but it seems more appealable to younger readers (young teen range)

A real page turner!

This book kept me turning pages late into the night. The chapters were short and every time I finished one I just had to read one more! Tom moves in to a new house with his blended family and the house seems to have all kinds of suspect things screaming out to him from holes in the doors where there were locks on the outside and secret messages written on the walls under the wallpaper. As he investigates things get weirder and weirder and his new friend Amy, who used to live in the house before him has some secrets. Great suspenseful psychological thriller!

Suitable for young adult readers

Lock the doors is an interesting thriller perfect for YA mystery readers. The suspense is good and the darkness in the story is kept subtle to suit juvenile readers, I skimmed a lot through the chapters which is highly unlikely for me, a thriller-addict. But if you like your mysteries light with less cozy space, you might like this one. Thank you Sourcebooks Fire via Netgalley for the reader’s copy.

A Scary YA Book

I didn’t realize this psychological thriller was a Young Adult book when I bought it, but I have to say – like many YA books – this had me hasten through it to discover what the secret was. I’m in my 70s but related to the young characters and felt their fears. Vincent Ralph developed believable characters. Glad he had been encouraged to read and write when he himself was young
