Third party purchase! Disappointed

I washed the sheets on cool water, gentle cycle prior to putting on the bed. When I pulled them out of the dryer, I noticed that a large section of the seam had not been sewed correctly, so the fabric was unraveling. I tried to return the sheets for a new set and was told I was 3 days past the 30 days to return the item because this was a “third party purchase.” I purchased online at Macy’s, not from an unknown website. Macy’s should stand behind products purchased on their website.
