Package disappeared after UPS photographed it

My cousin never recieved the ring. UPS did photograph a small box outside her door, but it was not there when my cousin returned home. I think small boxes should be sent USPS. The ring would have been in her locked mailbox. UPS should have put it under the doormat. There are scams now where delivery companies photograph an item and then take the package. And of course "porch bandits" are rife , especially near Christmas. My cousin is a wonderful person, a retired Air Force officer (a nurse). When she moved from Texas to South Carolina, a precious garnet ring given to her by her grandmother was stolen.She was very upset. My goal was to gift her a beautiful garnet ring to make up for the stolen ring. Instead, yet another garnet ring was stolen from her. Can Macy's make this right and send the ring again, this time mailing through USPS, so it will get to her?
