I prefer cotton mattress pads and they are usually more expensive than this one. The quality is good too, no chemical smell either.

Nice Mattress Pads

I like these and they're working well for us. They are substantial enough to fit well over our deep mattresses. They are not overly fluffy, but nicely quilted and provide a nice foundation under the fitted sheet. Most of all, they are cotton (top surface) and that's what I was looking for. They've washed nicely.
