Beautiful but box smells musty

The ring catch is absolutely beautiful and very good quality. Unfortunately the box and bag has a very strong musty/old smell. I’ve tried airing it out, but it’s not helping. I wanted to give this as a gift, but can’t with the way it smells.

So lovely ,very usefull and the box it comes in is great for giving, or storage , a good reason to have a special evening. I think it would make a wonderful gift, but I'm keeping this for me.
