shrunk after washing

Purchased as a Christmas Gift for my son. He tried it on and fit perfectly. Washed before wearing and it shrunk terribly. Sleeves were almost up to his elbows. And couldn’t button the front. Will try and bring it back to Macys but doubt if they will return my money.
