Product details

this set is modern w/ a nod to the traditional, very classy fine china. Wish they had more peices with the "link" pattern (just salad plate and cups have the links /rings, the rest are banded but nice)
Modern & Sophisticated
When I bought it, it was called "Soho Platinum." I have no idea why Mikasa changed the name and I prefer the former. It is difficult to express just how much I adore this pattern, but I am going to try! :) I love it so much that it has become the inspiration for how I will decorate the dining room in my next house. I plan on painting the walls the same shade of silvery gray found between the double bands of platinum on the china. Not that you can SEE that detail in the product shot, thanks to the poor choice made by Mikasa to shoot white china on a white background. Seriously? Their picture does absolutely nothing to show how GORGEOUS this china really is! I hope my little picture will convince you to go check out this pattern in person. :) I didn't discover this pattern until after my wedding when I already had 12 place-settings and all the serving pieces for another china pattern by another brand. But I immediately fell in love with this china and HAD to have it. So I exchanged everything AND changed out my flatware! I paired it with Reed & Barton's "Silver Echo" which you can also see in the picture. Personally, I think it looks amazing. :D And I have received many compliments, so others appear to agree. (When I registered before my wedding, I was frustrated by how traditional most china is. The first one I found was decent and I liked it a lot but I didn't LOVE it.) Though I can't imagine EVER tiring of THIS look, I didn't want to risk it, so I chose not to get the serving pieces from this line. Instead, I paired it with the serving pieces from Kate Spade's Library Lane Platinum collection which is very attractive but simple and compliments the Mikasa place-setting well. I felt it was the safer way to go because if I ever DO get bored with this pattern, I can just buy new salad plates and cups to get a whole new look!
