AMAZING BOOK!

An adventurous, character-driven, suspenseful read. In this riveting book Suzane Collins captures friendship, rebellion, adventures, and thrill. Above all else this is a saga about a 17 year old girl who has incite a rebellion for freedom, and now narrates her experience and feelings through it. Alongside strong desires, being in dangerous situations, and having to navigate her way the best she can, this novel truly painted an exquisite plot. I will most remember the indescribable feeling I got from reading this book. If I could read this novel again I would because of the extraordinary well written storyline, and very well exploited use of imagery.

An Incredible Read!

Suzanne Collins’ Mockingjay is a compelling novel that at one point in your life you must read. The journey I went through while reading this book was something I had never before experienced. This book is the perfect finish to the widely loved Hunger Games trilogy. Collins creates the perfect world of dystopia, rebellion, and despair. As you read, you feel connected to the characters she builds and the true nature of their struggle. She doesn’t hold back when it comes to her storytelling and I love the way she depicts the horrible dictatorship within the country of Panem. The Themes in this novel share some parallels to our own world. The theme of the struggle for freedom and oppression can be seen around the world with minorities boycotting for more freedoms or women’s rights. This theme prompts readers to make a stand whenever something feels wrong or unjust. Another theme in this book is resilience and rising up like a phoenix after a hard time. It teaches that even against adversity and overwhelming odds, you can accomplish things with enough courage and determination. The entire message of the Mockingjay is the strength of the mind and free will and the themes of this are very present throughout the novel. Suzanne Collins’ storytelling lives up to her amazing repertoire. She paints an insanely vivid picture of this world and transports readers to what she creates in her words. This book is an amazing read, but not perfect. Sometimes during this novel, the pacing can feel uneven, slow, or worn-out. Additionally, not to spoil, but the ends of some character arcs feel incomplete, leaving some unwanted thought provocation. Also, I would not recommend this book for younger audiences. The themes in this book are haunting which may be too much for someone around the age of 9 to understand or grasp. The audience I would say best suits this book the best would be mid 20’s. This book is perfect for someone who is looking to take risks but also wants and needs to know some harsh truths about life. This book can perfectly encapsulate these thoughts. Even with those critiques, Mockingjay remains a powerful novel that is a must read for me. This trilogy and novel has left a lasting impression on me that will stay with me for years to come. This book is not just another book and in my opinion, is one of the best novels I have ever read. Suzanne Collins is the perfect author for creating the world of The Hunger Games.

When freedom was near, there was much more to come

When freedom was near, there was much more to come in turning the dystopia that Katniss lived in into a flourishing utopia. After being torn away from Peeta in the arena Katniss was immediately forced into being the face of a huge rebellion, with no time to grieve or deal with her emotions. She didn’t even know where she lived or who she trusted anymore. As I was transported into her journey I hoped things would get better for Katniss and her country of Panem. I know everyone around her thought they were helping her, but it felt like she was hurting which was upsetting because she had worked so hard to get to where she was, but the fight wasn’t over yet. I noticed how death was starting to feel normal to Katniss, and me because as I read and as she lived so many people were dying and battling it just felt normal for characters to be killed. Many others see the Peeta-Katniss love story towards the end as Peeta betrays Katniss and then they can make up. For me, I wouldn’t call it betrayal because Peeta was brainwashed, abused, and controlled to be against Katniss which did hurt them both but that was all President Snow and the government, their love for each other was always there just protected. When the book was nearing its end I felt Katniss’s anger for Gale and President Coin because of their destructiveness. Katniss was angry at Gale because he helped create the idea of the bombs at the Capitol which killed her sister, Prim. She also thought Gale made those bombs but President Coin was the one who made them which Katniss later realized and made her pay. I understood why Katniss felt like this, which was because none of this would ever have happened if she never volunteered in place of Prim in the Hunger Games, to protect her because Prim meant so much to her. As the book ended, I felt like a proud parent, I would say “I couldn’t believe they finally did it.” But I can believe that they finally were able to save their country from an evil controlling government and turn it into a much better one. After not being able to put this book down like most readers, we need some time to heal like Peeta, Katniss, and all the other characters, because they’re finally free!

This book brought me so much joy and sadness; it’s an emotional rollercoaster. As the actual review says, it has chapters with “Oh my god! I didn’t see that coming” endings.❤️

Mockingjay

Mockingjay brought on a twist as the rise of the shadowed, District 13, which rescued Katniss from the arena, came along. As much as I enjoyed reading this book, I enjoyed the entire series as a whole, all of the books are very thorough and catching. The plot enables the reader to reanalyze the text, and what is happening throughout the story, such as important action, conflict, or interaction comes and goes. Furthermore, the changes in the setting take away from boredom that can be found in a repetitive setting. For example, the plot, at times, changes the setting. However, the plot still maintains a consistent flow, which allows the reader to comprehend some details that can be confusing. Suzanne Collins uses descriptive and figurative language throughout the story, which brings vivid details to the characters and the settings. This enables the reader to create their own image in their mind, bringing the characters to life. The Author has the gift of providing the reader with the ability to not only visualize what is taking place and where, but to also feel the emotions of the characters throughout the story. As a reader, I was able to build a mental connection with the characters and what they endured as the trilogy came to an end. Throughout the novel, the theme of love transcends as Katniss and Peeta’s love story continues to strengthen until the very end. In addition, Katniss’ love for her family, her District and the people, played a major role in the struggles she endured. The imagery provided by Collins captured not only the vivid minds of the readers, but also their hearts and their emotions. The struggles, the pains, and the torment endured by Katniss and Peeta could be felt throughout the novel. It was an epic love story, that was magnified and stretched to endure the horrors of a controlling Capitol. However, like any perfect love story, the strength and perseverance of the characters, and their love prevailed victoriously. I predict, that this trilogy will continue to engage and capture readers from different age groups, and different walks of life. I can definitely envision the author writing a sequel to this story that connects more with the upcoming generation. It is very difficult to put these books down once I started reading. The captivating characters, the interactive and intriguing setting, and the suspenseful plot made this trilogy an epic read in my perspective.

Wow.

Wow. This book was AMAZING. I’ve read this book twice before and seen the movies and it just doesn’t get old. Every single time I laughed, cried, and was on the edge of my seat. This book, and series as a whole, are a must read. I have to say, this dystopian novel sets the bar high for others. The setting in this book is really interesting. It takes place in multiple locations, but you don’t find yourself being lost in all the action. That being said, Suzanne Collins is a great author, and the way she writes her books has been a favorite of mine for years. The plot has a good climax and gives the reader and characters a chance to breathe throughout the story. Not to mention, it has some shocking twists and turns! The book is interesting the whole way through; from the beginning, middle, and end. I thought the language she used was very descriptive and appropriate for each situation. It clearly helped me understand what was going on in the novel without being too wordy. I also think it sits well with its intended audience, as I am someone in that age group. The conflict and resolution was expertly done throughout this series; each book had their own problems, but throughout all 3 we deal with that same underlying issue of the Capitol. Spoiler Alert - One thing I wasn’t a fan of was Prim’s death. It wasn’t necessary and dang did I cry. Part of me understands why this was done, as this book is not a fairy tale with a super happy ending, but the other part of me, as a fan, wishes she was still alive. Overall, I highly recommend Mockingjay and the rest of the Hunger Games series.
