Great velvet dress!

I honestly knew the moment I started pulling this dress out of its plastic bag that it was a keeper--it had a nice heft to it, lovely fabric, warm and substantial. Not cheaply made. It fits me well, it's flattering, and it was perfect for the evening wedding I wore it to!

Frumpy on my body

This dress does nothing for me. Maybe with some shiny jewelry it would look nice. The fabric is also a bit see-through at the bottom half, which is strange for black velvet. You might need a slip, unless you are going to wear it at night. But the fabric is pretty and soft, and it is not hot, it is breathable. The sleeves are big bell-like sleeves, and make my shoulders look bigger. I ordered the 2X, I’m usually 1X or 2X. There was still plenty of room in the elastic waist. It is very comfortable and a good length, though. But just not elegant on me. If you’re looking for comfort and you know how to accessorize, it could work. If you’re going to buy it, size down one size. Maybe it was just my body type, I don’t know. I’m 5’7, 235. Most of my weight is in my waist. I think it would look good on someone, but not me.

Nice Dress

This is a beautiful velvet dress and perfect for holiday parties and weddings. The weight of the dress makes it flow nicely along the body and doesn't cling. I ordered 2 sizes to be sure I chose the right fit. I would suggest ordering the smaller size because there's a lot of stretch in the fabric and in the elastic waist, and the smaller size would have less fabric which I think looks better with this dress. It may have looked better with less of a flare. But it's definitely a comfortable dress.

Soft and long but perhaps too much dress

Lovely long heavy dress and nice soft fabric, seems true to size. However my husband and daughter said it looked like I was wearing a bath robe. I did used to have one that color. Just too much dress for a large lady.
