Runs small

My son is 13, medium height and weight. I ordered a 18/20 and it fits like a jacket. He will not be able to wear it next year. Kid's size clothing have changed and not for the better. A size 18/20 is the new 14/16 in kids clothing. I should not have to buy an adult male size coat for my 8th grade child.
